Subjunctive: Introduction
According to the grammar books, the subjunctive is basically found with three different meanings:
  1. Epistemic. In this meaning the subjunctive is similar in meaning to the future indicative and is found in main, conditional and subordinate clauses.
  2. Hortative. In main clauses, the subjunctive is used as the first person imperative.
  3. Negative directive. With μή, the aorist subjunctive is used as the second person subjunctive.
