Optative: Conclusion
In the preceding pages I have briefly laid out the conclusions reached in my thesis about the optative mood. I have argued that the two meanings described in the grammar books have been misunderstood in the previous studies. I have also claimed that there are more than these two meanings.

I therefore distinguish negative epistemic stance and wish meanings, both of which are subjective modalities, and objective and deontic meanings, both of which are objective. It remains unclear how these meanings are related to each other, and the map of the optative must therefore remain less clear than that of the subjunctive.
