| They thought that the Boeotians had been convinced by the Lacedaimonians to raze the Panactum and to enter into treaties with the Athenians, and that the Athenians were aware of this, with the result that it was no longer possible for them to enter into an alliance with the Athenians, when they had always believed that, as a result of the differences between the two sides, it would always be possible for them to be allies with the Athenians, if their treaties with the Lacedaimonians did not last. |
