τὰ χρήστ’ ἐπιστάμεσθα καὶ γιγνώσκομεν,
οὐκ ἐκπονοῦμεν δ’, οἱ μὲν ἀργίας ὕπο,
οἱ δ’ ἡδονὴν προθέντες ἀντὶ τοῦ καλοῦ
ἄλλην τιν’.

We know and recognise what is good but we don't work at it, some out of laziness, some because they put some other pleasure before what is right.
